British Council Cyprus has been operating in Cyprus since the 1930s and is now based at a renovated old building in the old city of Nicosia, at the corner of Onasagorou and Aristotelous street. British Council, Cyprus works mainly in two areas; Education and English (including Examinations) although organizes also projects on Culture and Arts.

Our Education unit works closely with schools, education counsellors, teachers and parents to provide the best information regarding UK Education through presentations and seminars, Education Exhibitions, placement/counselling of students to apply to UK universities and translation of qualifications services. We also support students interested in UK Higher Education institutions by organizing the UK education exhibitions, where they have the opportunity to meet with the institutions and find out information first hand, face to face. We organize the largest UK education exhibition in Cyprus in November, as well as a roadshow in the spring. More information on upcoming events such as presentations or exhibitions can be found at

Our Exams unit organizes more than 40,000 exams annually, for candidates from all over the island. We deliver the widest range of exams in the EU region: ESOL – English as a Second Language (IELTS, Cambridge English Qualifications, IGCSE), School exams such as IGCSEs and A levels in all subjects (from both Pearson/Edexcel and Cambridge International), university exams, professional exams such as ACCA (Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants), and music exams of ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music). Apart from organizing the exams we assist teachers in preparing students appropriately for the exams, by organizing development seminars and we work closely with the Ministry of Education & Culture to build capacity and improve standards at inspector, as well as Head Teacher and teacher level in schools and universities, mainly through providing English Language consultancies.
